Biography

Composer & Arranger, alto & baritone saxes, bass clarinet, flute

Born and raised in Munich, Germany Anna Hoffmann has been playing the saxophone for 15 years. She graduated from Berklee College Of Music in Boston with a B.A. in Performance and Jazz Composition, followed by a Masters Degree in Jazz Composition from the New England Conservatory. She is currently involved as a composer for the B.M.I. Jazz Composer’s Workshop in NYC, and she writes and arranges original music, performing with her own Octet and Big Band in the Boston area.

    Winner of the commencement composition contest, wrote the music played during the ceremonial procession. Honor guests: Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge, Andy McGhee, and Elliot Scheiner.

    Baritone saxophone in Jerry Secco’s Bigband Among many talents this group features Gordon Au, newly accepted student at the Thelonious Monk Institute in New Orleans and guitarist Jake Herzog who was recently announced as the grand prizewinner of the Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition sponsored by Gibson.
